The decision to transfer out of the Wisconsin Badgers football program this past offseason paid off in spades for running back Isaac Guerendo

After earning an expanded role in his lone season in Louisville’s offense, Guerendo has decided to pass on using his extra season of collegiate eligibility and announced that he’s taking his talents to the NFL.

“Card Nation, First, I want to start by thanking God for being by my side through every step of my journey,” Guerendo wrote.” Without him, none of this would be possible. To my family and friends, thank you for the unconditional love and support that you have shown me throughout this process. To my teammates, thank you for the friendships and bonds that will last a lifetime. Thank you to the University of Wisconsin and Coach Chryst for giving me an opportunity to play at such a great university. Forever a Badger!”

Former Wisconsin Badgers RB Isaac Guerendo Enters the 2024 NFL Draft

Isaac Guerendo put together an impressive season for the Wisconsin football team in 2022, running for 385 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 115 receiving yards and a touchdown as a pass catcher. On special teams, Guerendo averaged 23.9 yards per kickoff return.

Once Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi announced they would both return to the Wisconsin Badgers after Luke Fickell took over, it became clear that a chance to earn a more prominent role was slim.

Guerendo entered the transfer portal looking for more carries, deservingly so and found a landing spot that provided him a chance to showcase his big-play abilities.

He finished this past season with 810 yards and 11 touchdowns on 132 carries and 22 receptions for 234 yards, totaling 1,044 yards from scrimmage. Guerendo was also Louisville’s leading kick returner, logging 11 returns for 211 yards.

Isaac Guerendo joined the Wisconsin Badgers as a wide receiver in the 2018 recruiting class under head coach Paul Chryst—best of luck to the Indiana native as he pursues his NFL dreams.
